Canada's favoured trade hub

hktdc_com_Canada_s_favoured_trade_hub.png

Hong Kong has rocketed to join the top 10 trade partners with Canada, mainly due to the SAR's dynamic and sophisticated marketplace, says Canada's recently-appointed Consul General in Hong Kong. Ian Burchett says his country's largest consulate abroad explains to Canadian companies how to use Hong Kong as a platform for Asia.

Canada's first MasterChef Eric Chong Visits Hong Kong

Canada_s_first_MasterChef.PNG

His name is Eric Chong and he’s destined to be a star in culinary circles. We could describe this talented young man in detail, but before we tell you about him, why not see him for yourself at

http://www.discoverhongkong.com/ca/see-do/insiders-guide/voices-of-celebrities/index.jsp

Eric Chong hails from Oakville, Ontario, and he is the winner of CTV MasterChef Canada 2014. The above video gives a glimpse of Eric in Hong Kong, which he visited for a few months in order to be trained by Demon Chef Alvin Leung at Bo Innovation, his 3-star Michelin restaurant. In the video Eric can be seen exploring some of Hong Kong’s unique food markets and enjoying some of the region’s beautiful places. Eric was trained as a chemical engineer at McMaster University, but it seems he was destined to be a chef from a young age. Although now only in his early twenties, he has been cooking for 15 years! At six he enjoyed doing simple tasks in the kitchen, slowly becoming competent as he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was head chef & owner of Hong Kong Bakery, a Chinese restaurant in Toronto. But in his parents’ eyes cooking wasn’t an acceptable career option. Eric’s motivation stemmed from a desire to prove his worthiness as a chef to his parents. Now with his MasterChef accolade Eric is hoping to prove he has a viable future as a successful chef. He wishes to open his own restaurant in his hometown of Oakville.

Eric loves cooking foods with a ‘wow factor’. His signature dish is “Wok Lobster”- homemade chittara egg noodles with stir-fried lobster & coconut lobster sauce. Other dishes in his repertoire include mushroom risotto and fresh, homemade pasta.
